Inspired by my 'rant' in today's Recruiter Daily, in response to an article titled 'Surveys launched to gauge jobseeker experience', I asked myself the question, should we reward Great Recruitment Consultants or reprimand them for blowing their own trumpet?
With the launch of this years SARA's a website Evenitup!' claiming to be the voice of the jobseeker and promising to 'shift the balance for jobseekers' has launched it's own campaign 'The Even It Up! SEEK anti-SARA awards!, which asks readers to whinge about the industry and it's consultants. In this ever competitive market is it such a bad thing to let everyone know that you have been regarded as professional &/or competent in your sector, particularly when the award is nominated by our clients / candidates?
In this recruiters opinion, no - but I'm open to other opinions....

Diane has some very valid points.
ReplyDeleteAll the items she pointed out do happen in the industry and we just turn a blind eye to it.
SARA awards... Many agencies structure a aggressive marketing campaign to the "good" clients/candidates to say nice things about them. It all comes down how much $ they want to spend to win the award.
Hi Thomas, thanks for your comments.
ReplyDeleteYou are right, Diane does have some valid points, however I just don't see any effort from her to look at other points of view, for example on her article '10 things we hate about recruitment companies' she dismisses every comment that a recruiter has made, without even considering whether they may also be valid points or not!
She even goes as far as to suggest that the recruiter in question should change careers!
With the SARA's, I know some companies do spend many $$$ on a targeted marketing campaign, but most (including myself) just add the logo / icon to their signature & website and hope that someone feels they deserve a nomination. I still believe that companies do deserve to be recognised when they do well, as this industry, with so much bad press, needs to recognise it's greats!
